Should Gate scolls be dropped in RTA?  Reply with quote  

Playing CON today (started as level 1 ranger on Challenging mode - ranger's are flippin' kick-ass or what!) and it occured to me, why bother with Gate scrolls? You always have them, you can buy them at the shop whenever you need, and the only point to them is if you *do* run out, it's an aggravation. Why not just allow the player to gate back to the shop whenever they want instead of having to check they've got a spare scroll every time they're in the shop?

Besides who the hell needs 'em theres portals all over the place anyways...it's not that hard to run away from the things trying to kill you to get to a portal and besides you save gold for more important thing... oh wait I'm talking about Con nevermind buy gate scrolls all you want nothing worth buying in any of the shops anyways

They're good for saving the game at (almost) a moment's notice if you have to go do something in RL, or you just can't be bothered playing any longer, but I do see the point that giving the characters the ability to gate back to the merchant would cut out the pointless middleman, so to speak.

Also, the gate devices should be potions, not scrolls Wink

I agree they should be dropped, just have a freely available rapid transit system that can't be used if there are enemies that know of the player's presence.
