SUMMARY OF POSITION
WB Games Inc. seeks a Senior Artist/Animator to work closely with the Lead Animator to maintain and create high quality animations for both real time in game movement and pre-rendered cinematics. Assists Lead in helping define process and pipelines along with aesthetic goals. This person will be expected to mentor more junior animators and to have an awareness of the impact of assets on performance.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for animating 3D character models in a realistic game, including working with motion capture data, hand keyframed animations and facial/lip synch animations.
  • Sets up animations to work on in game models using proprietary internal tools.
  • Participates in departmental meetings to share personal ideas and define the look and feel of areas and characters.
  • Assists in R&D efforts for tools enhancements and prototyping of new technology, assist in documentation of best practices.
  • Mentors and trains junior animators in best practices and methodologies.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of 2-year 2D/3D art degree with an emphasis in character keyframe animation or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of industry art and animation experience.
  • At least 1 published game preferably 360 or PS3.
  • Brings high level of artistic / animation accomplishment to the solution of artistic problems.
  • Proven excellence in realistic hand keyed and mocap animation.
  • Expert in one or more types of 3D animation software (Maya, Motion Builder, 3DS Max).
  • Excellent key frame and mocap animation skills.
  • Good understanding of animation theory and technique.
  • Good understanding of game development process and limitations.
  • Experience and understanding of character and animation pipelines and character setup.
  • Up to date knowledge of current animation techniques and development processes.
  • Body and facial rigging skill and an understanding of MEL/Maxscript desirable.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work cross departmentally and effectively communicate to support systems/feature development.
  • Ability to work with external departments to ensure quality and continuity in animation related services.
  • Able to work well under pressure and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • A positive attitude and a desire to bring new ideas to the team.
  • Passion for making and playing great games, with an awareness of current titles and industry trends.
  • Portfolio/website demonstrating your animation skills.
