WB Games Inc. seeks a Senior Artist/Animator on our Cinematics Team to work closely with Animators and Character artists to rig and skin character models for cinematic assets. Work with technical artists and designers to ensure proper function within game engine. Help optimize assets for most efficient use of resources. Assist in creating and maintaining tools for assets creation. Strong focus on technical troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Responsible for rigging and animating 3D character models in a realistic game, including working with motion capture data, hand keyframed animations and facial/lip synch animations. Working with the in house toolset, helping set up characters and rigs, while also making characters and objects game ready.
  • Help develop tools and scripts to aid Animation and art creation.
  • To optimize art assets (both character and environment) so they run as efficiently as possible while still maintaining the visual fidelity.
  • Implementing the 3D cameras for in-game and pre-rendered cinematics.
  • Developing and directing animatics (both 2D and 3D) for game projects.
  • 2D Storyboarding cinematics for game projects.
  • Must possess a 2 or 4-year 2D/3D art degree with an emphasis in character keyframe animation as well as camera animation or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years working as an animator in the entertainment industry with a focus on character and camera animation.
  • Experience as a technical artist/animator a plus.
  • At least 1 published games preferably 360 or PS3.
  • Must be proficient in one or more types of 3D software (Maya, 3D Studio Max, SoftImage, etc.).
  • Experience with Motion Builder a plus.
  • Expert mel, Python, maxscript or equivalent scripting skills.
  • Strong understanding of general artistic aesthetics.
  • A strong understanding of personal schedule management.
  • Loves console games, with an ability to critically analyze them.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong Troubleshooting skills.
  • A thorough understanding of modern 3d engines and the technology behind them.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Strong interest in computer games.
  • Passion for storytelling and movies a plus.
  • Takes direction well, but is self-driven.
  • Experience with animating motion-capture a plus.
  • Facial/hand animation experience a plus.
  • Experience in developing cinematics a plus.
