SUMMARY OF POSITION
WB Games Inc. seek an Art Development Director to be responsible for designing, implementing and enforcing the production pipeline for art insourcing and outsourcing. The Art Development Director develops art content staffing plans and monitors resource load and schedule for the external outsource teams as well as the insourced teams. In addition, he or she monitors content creation tasks in collaboration with production staff and art leads handling communication and feedback between the external partners and the internal game teams. They work with Producers, Art Directors and Engineering on developing industry-best art practices and recommending workflow direction. He or she also collaborates with the Producers and Leads to develop shared company processes where appropriate, and participates in defining the aesthetic aspirations for the company.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • In conjunction with the Producer and Art Director of the game teams, coordinate the day-to-day activities for a large internal and outsourced team of Animators, Character Artists, Graphic designers, Background and Effects Artists.
  • Be a key participant in the hiring process for content creators.
  • Conduct annual reviews and goal setting for all members of your team.
  • Help set schedule and visual expectations. Help maintain technical expectations.
  • Help define the content creation process from pre-production through completion.
  • Ensure communication and cross team coordination with the other Art management within WBGames.
  • Meet with all external outsource companies, determine best fit, and communicate project needs and maintain relationship while that company is working with WB.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of a 2-year 2d/3d Art, Architecture, or Design degree, or equivalent experience.
  • 4 year BFA or similar preferred.
  • 7 or more years of increasingly responsible experience in Art/Art Direction.
  • 3+ years management experience.
  • Experience working with a broad range of high-end 2D and 3D third-party content creation tools.
  • Experience managing a group of 15 to 20 people.
  • Extremely organized and proficient overseeing large project schedules. Experience with Microsoft Project or similar software a major plus.
  • Must be passionate about playing and making video games for the PC and gaming consoles.
  • Experience developing console titles.
  • Worked on a published game.
  • Ability to collaborate with others to manage a large group of highly motivated and creative people.
